Irish singer/songwriter Jack L has revealed that he has recorded a single to commemorate 1916. The track, “The Minstrel Boy”, is set to be released March 29th.
The song was originally written by Thomas Moore (1779–1852) in remembrance of those whom had participated in (and were killed during) the Irish Rebellion of 1798. The song gained widespread popularity and became a favourite and a great inspiration for the 1916 Easter Rising.
Jack L is expected to perform the song at a Centenary Concert Performance Easter Monday with the RTE Concert Orchestra at the Bord Gais Energy Theatre broadcast live on RTE One television at 9.30pm.
