Review by Bobby Green

I 1st came across Nathan O’Regan a few years ago when he was living in Cork, whenever he was on stage his voice would not only fill the room but the also the hearts and souls of everyone present. He could sing the ingredients from the back of a bag of Taytos and make it sound like Steak and Chips.

It’s a talent he doesn’t take for granted, a more humble and affable young man you’d be hard pressed to find, and this warm and charming personality comes through in his song writing while his voice can hold you in a story for as long as you’re able.

With “I’ll Go Down With You” Nathan turns his story telling on himself with a very personal song that deals with mental health issues, a topic that he has found out is very common in his line of work. It wasn’t until he opened up about his struggles that others started to open up to him. This gave him great strength and a desire to write again after a year of ‘just performing’ and ‘feeling like a fraud’ calling himself a songwriter. It even got to the point where he didn’t even like the look of his guitar. And if you’ve ever been lucky enough to see Nathan play you’ll understand how heart-breaking that is, because as I said, when he performs you truly believe in the story he so masterfully delivers to you.

Wanting to write something with meaning became his aim and to not only highlight an issue but to let his community know that they are not alone, and even if it’s not ok, that’s ok too. This beautiful song is featured on his new EP  ‘Let’s Not Last Together’ which is released on September 22nd

The EP Launch is Saturday September 22nd  – Blackbox, Belfast.

If you’re lying

To cover up the hell you’re hiding

All the questions in the conversations

If it’s easier not to talk

Then don’t speak

We can let the silence run deep

Catch your breath and we can lay low

I’ve got nowhere I need to go

But you should know

When the ground begins to shake

I’ll stand up with you

When you took all you can take

I’ll fight with you

Listen up, listen up

There’s no road too rough

No wall we can’t break through

If you’re going down

I’ll go down with you

I’m not gonna tell you that it ain’t broke

I’m not gonna tell you just to let it go

Or pretend to know what it’s like

I’m sure you’ve heard that a thousand times

But when you’re ready

I’ll be here to listen to every

Word you can’t say now

I’ll always be around

Let there be no doubt

When the ground begins to shake

I’ll stand with you

When you took all you can take

I’ll fight with you

Listen up, listen up

There’s no road too rough

No wall we can’t break through

If you’re going down

I’ll go down with you
