Review by Bobby Green

2016 was a huge year for Otherkin where they were building momentum with some highly acclaimed live performances across Europe and at home, and a support slot with The Red Hot Chilli Peppers in Belfast. They were the live act to catch last year and with the forthcoming album promised for this year 2017 looks like delivering much of the same.

“Bad Advice” is the lead single from the album and it’s the kick in the face you need right now.  The single is self-produced by the band with David Prendergast and Jason Boland, and has been mixed in London by Jolyon Thomas (Slaves / Royal Blood / U2). It is accompanied by a superb video directed by Finn Keenan.

If like me you have a few miles on the clock and can remember bands like Mega City Four and The Senseless Things than you’ll love Otherkin’s Bad Advice, it’s as catchy as fuck and as noisy as hell and only 2 and a half minutes long. It worked for The Clash so why change a winning formula. I can’t see anything stopping 2017 being another successful year for Otherkin, and I’m sure if anything gets in their way they’ll be kicking down those doors too.
