Cork quintet Damsel fronted by Luke O’Neill who wowed at the recent Whelan’s One’s To Watch Festival are set to release their debut EP “Boy On The RocksJanuary 23rd in The Roundy, Cork.
Having formed six months ago the band contains members from The Careers and has already played Electric Picnic and supported Lisa O’Neill and August Wells. With a likeness to Conor O’Brien of Villagers and touches of Americana Damsel transport you to a synth laden, foggy, and distorted world of soulful guitar riffs and playful melancholic lyrics. Throughout the five track EP you can hear many influences from 60’s rock and pop, RnB and modern stargaze. The whole project feels fuller and lush than just five tracks with each holding onto the basic signature while experimenting with form on top. To date “A Signal Sent” and “A Break from Breaking Things” have been introduced to the world but Damsel has a lot more to offer. Go visit their Soundcloud page and check them out in a series of gigs around Cork and a date in The Workman’s, Dublin.
Boy On The Rocks” will be released January 23rd with a launch in The Roundy, Cork.
