One of Cork’s landmark summer festival’s returns in 2017 and the first waves of acts to return to the Rebel county Showgrounds in June and July have been announced with the latest set of tickets going on sale Wednesday November 30.

Making an ideal Christmas box for the music fan in your life the acts revealed by Aiken Promotions in the last week include Elton John, Cliff Richard, Nathan Carter, Christy Moore and newest reveal Picture This.

Elton John has confirmed he is set to return to Cork for his fourth appearance at the Showgrounds and you can catch the ‘Your Song’ star on June 20th in Cork. On his return to Leeside, Elton said: “The simple truth is I want to spend more time with my family and I am only too aware of just how precious the time ahead is. So these concerts will give me the chance to thank the fans who have been so faithful to me over these many decades.”

Having released his latest album Up All Night earlier this year, Irish fan favourite and country star Nathan Carter will play on Saturday, July 8th. Cliff Richard, meanwhile, will play his first Irish gig in several years at the Marquee when he plays on June 15th 2017.

Following on from the success of their sold out tour which saw the band play to over 10,000 people, Picture This have just announced details of their UK and Ireland tour in May/June 2017, which will include a date Live at The Marquee Cork on Friday 9th June 2017. Tickets for the Cork date go on sale on Wednesday 30th November at 9am from Ticketmaster and usual outlets. It’s been an astounding year for Jimmy Rainsford and Ryan Hennessey aka Picture This. With a #1 Debut EP still riding high in the charts and a sold out nationwide tour under their belt, the band have signed a major record deal with Republic Records.

Christy Moore will return to play Live at the Marquee Cork next summer on Friday 14 July. One of the most compelling and inspirational musicians Ireland has ever seen, Christy Moore has a universal fan base and still continues to entertain; cementing him as an Irish icon. It is his deep urge to connect with the listener and to transmit the meaning of the songs he sings that has endeared him to audiences of all ages. Christy Moore’s new studio album Lily was released worldwide in May 2016. Produced by Declan Sinnott, Lily features ten songs new to Christy’s incredible live repertoire. The title track tells us of Christy’s early memories of County Kildare, and the album takes us on a journey across the water and back home with songs from Christy, Peter Gabriel and local heroes; John Spillane and Declan O’Rourke.
