Cork’s Jack O’Rourke has released the first single off his Top 20 debut album “Dream Catcher“. Already known for creating sonically beautiful ballads and lyrically enthralling lyrics O’Rourke has opened with a bittersweet ode to a love affair with single “On The Downlow”.

Opening with a clincher “if masculinity’s your currency, then why you feeling short of change?” O’Rourke looks back at the relationship and its failings. Allowing us to see anther side of him “On The Downlow” not only contains the melodic hooks, scintillating lyrics and spiraling arrangements that we associate with Jack O’Rourke but a pulsating drum beat that drives the song forward into dance and pop territory. His writing always has a look back at classic pop songs we find plenty of references to Jack’s inspirations in “On The Downlow” from Leonard Cohen to Roy Orbison.

The single is merged with a visually rich music video, directed by Barra Vernon featuring choreography by Megan Blythe and the dancers Philip O’ Callaghan and Lisa Hayes which you can watch below.
