Fresh on the heels of her last single “Change” Wallis Bird has revealed new single “Control” and as she sets off on her “Welcome” tour with the album release due September 30th it feels like she is taking things up a gear.

In contrast to “Change” new single “Control” is Wallis Bird as we know her, strong and heartfelt. The opening minute reminds me of Eddie Reader before breaking off into Wallis’ stomping ground of pummeled guitars and diaphragm abusing vocals. On the single Bird admonished herself for not paying attention to her partners needs and promises to do better, to let go of her need for control in order to make room for love. “And I’ll do right by you”. Then again, maybe this isn’t the familiar, maybe this is something new, it feels like classic songwriting from the era of Eddie and her peers, but with Bird at the helm it’s invigorating and fresh.

With most dates of the “Welcome” tour across Europe sold out and Bird’s two dates in Coughlan’s, Cork and The Grand Social sold out you will have to wait until January to catch her again.
