Wallis Bird is the type of artist that will always remain true to herself. Her craft is an extension of that self and we will always see her in it. If she wants to go to her bedroom and record an album and stitch the cover by hand than that’s what she will do.
“Change” is the first single off Bird’s new album “Home” which is set for release September 30th. And there is something in that title, “Home”, because clearly whatever Bird has found in the intervening years “Change” is one of her strongest efforts as she sounds like she is just that, at “home”, at peace. In a departure from previous efforts “Change” sees her not quite embracing but using to her advantage a new sound. We find clips and bleeps where none existed before. The space it offers Bird is what she has always needed to let her vocal range shine. It has also allowed her to embrace the ambience with a dreamy piano accompaniment that later closes out the track and is such an element of the song that the lines of its melody feature heavily in the choreographed accompanying video. The video was directed by Julian Lausen of Bildundtonfabrik.
