The RTÉ Choice Music Prize returns in 2021 and continues its principal role in championing Irish music and has announced the 10 songs shortlisted for 2020.

The ten songs include:

Denise Chaila – Chaila; Gemma Dunleavy – Up De Flats; Fontaines D.C. – Televised Mind; Niall Horan – No Judgement; Jafaris – Haunted; Gavin James – Boxes; Dermot Kennedy – Giants; Picture This – Winona Ryder; Pillow Queens – Holy Show; and True Tides – Survive.

The winners will be announced March 4th during a live RTÉ broadcast on RTÉ 2FM along with a TV-special on RTÉ2. 

On the night the RTÉ Choice Prize 2020 Album of the Year will also be announced.

The Ten shortlisted albums include: Nealo – All The Leaves Are Falling; Pillow Queens – In Waiting; Ailbhe Reddy – Personal History; Niamh Regan – Hemet; Silverbacks – Fad; Bitch Falcon – Staring At Clocks; Denise Chaila – Go Bravely; Fontaines DC – A Hero’s Death; JyellowL – 2020 DIvision; and Róisín Murphy – Róisín Machine.

All shortlisted acts will receive a specially commissioned award.

The winning act will receive €10,000, a prize fund which has been provided by The Irish Music Rights Organisation (IMRO) and The Irish Recorded Music Association (IRMA). All shortlisted acts will receive a specially commissioned award. RAAP, Culture Ireland, FMC and Minding Creative Minds are also official project partners of the RTE Choice Music Prize.

The 2020 Choice Music Prize Judges are Trishauna Archer (Beat FM), Pamela Blake (Today FM), Pavel Barter (Sunday Times), Gemma Bradley( BBC Radio One Introducing/BBC Radio Ulster Across the Line), Lisa Connell (GCN), Tracy Clifford( RTÉ 2fm), Lauren Murphy (Freelance journalist), Derek O’Connor(RTÉ Culture), Claire Regan (LMFM/Virgin Media), Louise Tighe (FM104), and Ray Wingnut (Spin Southwest).
