Dublin Northside by birth Sligo based Gavin Murphy is gearing up for the release of his debut album on April 24th.

Murphy brings his experience as a session guitarist as well as lead guitarist and band manager of Smiths tribute band These Charming Men to the writing of this debut offering. “45 RPM (Replay Past Memories)” is trailed by three singles including début single “My Regret”, “Shipwreck Gold” and the most recent single “What Am I Doing Here?” which was released on 27th March. “45 RPM (Reply Past Memories)” as the title suggests provides a heady does of 80’s nostalgia and there is plenty for Smiths fans to enjoy as Murphy incorporates his influences seamlessly into the new material. In the current anxiety heavy lock down days we find ourselves “45 RPM” is a calming soul massage perfect for sitting in the sun and day dreaming.

The album was co written, performed and produced by Gavin in his home studio in Sligo. Gavin’s eldest son, Daragh, also an accomplished guitarist and music producer also features on the album; co-produced three tracks and playing on a number of the songs.

Gavin would like to thank and acknowledge friends and co-writers : Tony Kavanagh, John McGeer, with particular thanks to Rob Malone (David Gray, Hot House Flowers), for co-production on “My Regret” and bass playing across the album.

The album “45 RPM (Replay Past Memories)” is out April 24th.
