This week the Government announced that licencees for gatherings of 5,000 people or more will be refused until September 1st due to the ongoing coronavirus crisis. The decision means major concerts and other events will have to be cancelled or rearranged.

MCD owner Denis Desmond said he was not surprised by the Government’s decision to ban large gatherings . “It was only a matter of time. It’s the right thing to do.We’ve been expecting it. Germany and Denmark announced these restrictions last week and it’s only a matter of time before the UK announces it too,” he said.

The announcement means that festivals and live events scheduled for 2020 are either postponed for later in 2020 or rescheduled for 2021. Below is a roundup of the latest statements from promoters, events and festivals affected.
