Limerick’s Denise Chaila has won the RTÉ Choice Music Prize Album of the Year 2020 award with her mistape Go Bravely.

Denise Chaila went up against 9 other Irish acts including Nealo – All The Leaves Are Falling; Pillow Queens – In Waiting; Ailbhe Reddy – Personal History; Niamh Regan – Hemet; Silverbacks – Fad; Bitch Falcon – Staring At Clocks; Fontaines DC – A Hero’s Death; JyellowL – 2020 DIvision; and Róisín Murphy – Róisín Machine.

Denise receives a cheque for €10,000, a prize which has been provided by the Irish Music Rights Organisation (IMRO) and the Irish Recorded Music Association (IRMA), as well as a specially- commissioned award. 

The event recorded at Windmill Lane Recording Studios, Dublin by South Paw and hosted by Tracy Clifford, took place live on RTÉ2FM and RTÉ Player with exclusive performances from the artists. For a limited time these performances are still available to watch on the RTÉ Player. RTÉ2 will broadcast a one-hour TV programme of the RTÉ Choice Music Prize, featuring performances from all the acts and interviews by Bláthnaid Treacy, on Sunday March 14th at 11.15pm.

Meanwhile, Niall Horan walked away with the prize for RTÉ Choice Music Prize Irish Song of the Year with ‘No Judgement’ after a public vote.
