Emperor of Ice Cream are quickly following up the chart success of ‘Lambent Eyes’ – the band’s first single from its imminent debut album – with a second summer scorcher of a track, ‘Everyone Looks So Fine’. The new single exudes sun-drenched sounds alongside shoe-gaze vibes to provide yet another taster of what is to come with the Emperor’s long-awaited long player.

Following an Irish Examiner retrospective on the story behind Emperor of Ice Cream’s missing debut album, from their time with Sony Music during the mid-nineties, FIFA Records took up the baton and were pleasantly surprised by the outpouring of positivity towards the band.

It quickly took ‘Lambent Eyes’ to the top of the Irish iTunes chart and feedback from radio shows and critics, both fans of the band and new, has paved the way for a second single from an album which is due to drop on FIFA Records before the end of the summer.

“The reaction to the first single has exceeded all expectations”, says bassist Eddie Butt. “It’s just confirmed to us that we made the right decision to finally release this material after all these years. ‘Everyone Looks So Fine’ is a real feelgood summer song, we’re very excited about getting it out there.”

The four band members, now based in Cork, Waterford, New York and Amsterdam, have worked on adding the finishing touches to the album remotely during the Covid Pandemic, while also inviting fans to be a part of the new video for ‘Everyone Looks So Fine’ by sending clips of themselves for inclusion. The track is released on FIFA Records with the album due to follow later this summer.
